| La Plissonnais is set in approximately 1¼ acres (~6,000 sq.metres) of lawns and gardens. The Rear: The drive, with joint access in perpetuity between the property and the neighbouring farm, leads to the rear of the house. This rear area has been developed into hardstanding car parking space for 6-8 cars, plus an area for the bins/recycling and the oil central heating's 3,500 litre tank, hidden by trellices. The rear lawn also includes the remaining five cider apple trees of the farm's orchard, which was decimated in storms in 1999. The Front: In front of the house (facing south) the land is mostly lawned, with landscaped herbacious and shrub borders and flower beds. Set within the landscaping is a small fenced pond, with pump and light features, and small external lights line the herbacious borders and several metres of the driveway. The borders also have an in-built irrigation system. Immediately in front of the house is a stone-laid patio with flowerbeds. Several metres from the front of the house is the concrete foundation of a former outbuilding, now used as a barbeque area, with stone-built 2m long barbeque and hardstanding for a large table and chairs. Two swing sets and a slide are set in the lawn between this area and the pool, and there is also a wooden-built sandpit, filled with child-safe sand. The Pools: At the edge of the property, lying to the south-east and thus getting sun through to the evening, is a pool area. This surrounds the old stone-built pigsty (now a pumphouse), and is a fenced, concreted swimming pool area, covered with astro turf. The main pool is 7m x 3m, with an additional splash pool for young ones. The entire area is secure, with a lockable gate, to conform to French health & safety regulations. Both pools are heated by a solar panel atop the pumphouse which is connected to the filtration pump, activated manually or by timer. |
